Martial Law
Your king is a powerful and courageous leader. The only thing he likes more than drinking is fighting, and he’s done it many times. While wars and foreign conquests were waged, homelands were neglected; Infrastructure is deteriorating and people are slowly starving. The soil is fertile for the seeds of rebellion!
Deceived by ruthless advisers, the king cares little for state bureaucracy, so when the masses rise up there is little warning or help to be found. Physical Laws
Diplomacy is not an option, take the laws of physics very seriously: no hit-scan crossbows here! Your archers and siege engines need clear trajectories to hit their targets, so it’s important to place your towers and defenses well.
Thousands of enemy soldiers will advance towards your walls and the archers positioned behind them will have to keep shooting; greatly reducing their range and accuracy. Providing your units with elevated firing positions will greatly increase their effectiveness. Likewise, a boulder thrown from a ballista or catapult is useless if it crashes into a cliff in midair.
