How to Enter GTA 5 Cheats on PC
There are two entry methods. Both work in Story Mode on PC.
Console words:
- Press the tilde key (~) at the top left of your keyboard to open the console.
- Type the cheat word, for example TURTLE, and press Enter.
- The words “Cheat activated” appear on screen when it works.
Phone numbers:
- Open the in-game phone.
- Open the contacts or keypad and dial the full 1-999 number.
- The cheat triggers as soon as the number is dialled.
Two rules apply before you start. Cheats work in Story Mode only, and any cheat temporarily disables achievements for that session. Save your game before you start experimenting, and reload that save when you want achievements back.
Player Cheats: Health, Armor, Invincibility, and Wanted Level
These six cheats cover survival and the law. Invincibility lasts five minutes, then wears off, so re-enter it if you still need it.

World Cheats: Weather, Gravity, and Director Mode
Three cheats change the world around you rather than your character.

Every vehicle below spawns right in front of you. Stand outdoors with clear space around you, or the vehicle may spawn stuck against a wall or on a roof. Three of them need unlocks first: the Dodo seaplane, the Kraken sub, and the Duke O’Death.

The Buzzard is the most useful spawn in the list: a fast attack helicopter with missiles and guns, and the only aircraft here that works well in tight city streets. One more warning about BUZZOFF: many guides print it as 1-999-289-9633, which is missing a digit. The correct number is 1-999-2899-633.
Hidden cheat: Black Cellphone. There is one more cheat that most lists leave out. Type EMPEROR in the console, or dial 1-999-367-3767, and an explosion goes off above your character. It is a joke cheat with no practical use, but it is real, and it is fun exactly once.
What Cheats Disable, and the Rules That Matter
Cheats are free fun in Story Mode, but they come with limits. Know them before you use them.
- Achievements stop for the session. The moment you enter a cheat, achievements and trophies stop unlocking until you reload a save from before the cheat. Keep a clean save slot just for cheat sessions, and never save over your main progress while cheats are active.
- There is no money cheat in GTA 5. No console word or phone number adds cash. Any site selling a money code is lying. Earn money through missions, heists, and the stock market instead.
- Cheats do nothing in GTA Online. The console and phone codes are ignored there. Third-party cheat programs in Online are a different thing entirely, and using them can get your account banned.
- Some cheats wear off. Invincibility lasts five minutes. SLOWMO and MAKEITRAIN cycle through levels or weather each time you repeat them, so enter them again to step through.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do GTA 5 cheats work on the PC Game Pass version?
Yes. The same console words and phone numbers work in Story Mode on the PC version, whichever store you bought it from. If the tilde key does nothing, check that your keyboard layout is set to US English, since some layouts move the tilde to another key.
Why did my achievements stop unlocking?
Any cheat disables achievements for the current session. Reload a save from before you entered the cheat, and achievements work again. Do not save over your main save while a cheat is active.
Can I use cheats in GTA Online?
No. The built-in cheats are ignored in GTA Online, and third-party cheat tools can get your account banned. Keep cheats in Story Mode.
